Cheerleading Training

Training for Cheerleading! 10 points?
Cheerleading is starting late summer but I want to start working out now and be good for cheerleading so I can be captain! Last year was my first year and I loved it but I wasn’t as good and the coach’s yelled at me a lot. I want to work on secondary basing and my voice, facials, toe touches, and gymnastics. Also I want to be “buff”.
P.S I can’t do cheer camp<3 thx bye
Well to be a captain, not only do you have to be really good but you need to know how to lead a team. That means if coach is late you fill in and keep things on track, if someone is messing up you take the time out of your day to help them. I spent 2 extra hours a day helping the girls who weren’t that good. Not only because I was captain but if one person messes up everyone does, a sucessful team beats with one heart.
Tips now, well you want to work on all your jumps. You want alot of leg stength to get your bottom off the ground. Working your legs will help tone them and make you appear buff. Leg lunges are by far the best, I hate them but they really do work. Also try bunge jumps, jump up and throw your legs out as far as you can and snap them back together before you hit the ground. When hitting the ground from a jump, toe, ball, heel, it. meaning land on your toes, then the ball of your feet then your heel. Not only will it make your jump appear neater but it won’t kill your feet.
When doing toetouches, do tucks first, they are simple jumps but they open up your hips. (also when trying for captain take all this info and use it as your own, it will make you seem creative) I know my coach loved all the ideas I came up with to make the team stronger. Always stretch before doing any sort of sport. Don’t over do it and pull a muscle you want to stretch until you feel a little burn, hold for 30 seconds (used to be 10 seconds NCA moved it up to 30 for a better stretch)
When it comes to stunting, be open minded, most girls would die to be a flyer but you can’t fly on your own. If you are willng to learn and work all positions your coach will love that too. Your voice, yell from your diaphram and don’t sing the words, short and loud. Also try to avoid whoo-ing. I don’t know about your area but judges actually knock of points for it. Try things like, “we’re number one’ “go team” “go ______ (school name) “let’s hear it” “come on” and spirit fingers are your friend.
Facials, gotta love em. lol. Don’t do retarded ones, look in the mirror and practice. Try getting the routine before throwing them in. Then just work it, one song we danced to asked a question and on the question I did a confused face. Lol, simple things, don’t open your mouth like a blow fish though lol. Blowing kisses are cute and winking is cute. (I can’t wink lol) My coach always suggested flirting, flirt with the judges, the crowd, pretend brad pitt is watching you, or for the younger generation, robert patterson lol. Gymnastics I suggest a class, don’t try it on your own.
Remember your motions and be tight, pull up through your abs and through your fists. Leave your problems at the door. And always smile..
