Racism, what?

I not particularly offended by this (I have thick skin), but I would LOVE to do the opposite to see what happens…

Was watching a t.v. sitcom that was obviously directed towards a black audience (don’t bust out some PC response to this, target audiences are easily identifiable). At any rate, there was a white couple who entered the scene (I think the neighbors of the black family) who exhibited a significant number of “stereotypes” some ethnic groups have placed on them (i.e. think Eddie Murphy’s impression of a black guy talking like a white man). They neighbors were overly nerdy, overly articulate, and couldn’t dance. When they attempted to relate to their neighbors, they played the “white fool”. Why would this be scripted–how was this not censored? I would love to see the response for an episode of Friends and have some black neighbors enter with gold-chains, baggy clothes, bustin’ caps everywhere. Does anybody else find this off?

Yes, it’s off. And you are right. But stereotypes play a big part in sitcoms unfortunately. As you can see from your previous answerers though….they don’t buy into crap. Normal people are around us everywhere…it’s great!

Colombian superstar Shakira’s first English-language disc, Laundry Service, carries the pointed credit “Entire Album Produced by Shakira.” That might be a signal to U.S. fans who helped two of her previous discs go platinum under the media radar–a sign that this planned breakthrough has more to offer than the input of a score of image makers and outside writers. And it does; even the occasional c…

Body Contact (Dance)

Body Contact (Dance)

$66.91

Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Body contact is a style of closed position in partner dancing. In some partner dances, the connection between the lead and follow is made by direct body contact, instead of a more open frame made with the arms. Body contact may be achieved with the thighs, hips, chest, cheek and/or forehead, depending on the style of dance, the connection needed for a particular move, or to fit the mood of the music. Body contact is often employed in ballroom dancing with advanced dancers or between dancers who are comfortable with each other. It is generally employed to enhance connection. Body contact is featured in such ballroom dances as the waltz, foxtrot, tango, Viennese waltz and quickstep. It can also be found occasionally in the American Rhythm dance, the bolero. Clothes Dryer

Clothes Dryer

$89.22

A clothes dryer or tumble dryer is a household appliance that is used to remove moisture from a load of clothing and other textiles, generally shortly after they are cleaned in a washing machine. Most dryers consist of a rotating drum called a tumbler through which heated air is circulated to evaporate the moisture from the load. The tumbler is rotated relatively slowly in order to maintain space between the articles in the load. In most cases, the tumbler is beltdriven by an induction motor. Using these machines may cause clothes to shrink, become less soft (due to loss of short soft fibers/ lint) and fade. For these reasons, as well as environmental concerns, many people use open air methods such as a clothes line and clotheshorse.
